Recent advances in the area of chemical and physiologic properties, origins, synthesis and isomerization, isolation and purification, detection of conjugated linoleic acids are reviewed systematically. Conjugated linoleic acids, which can reduce mutagenesis, carcinogenesis, atherosclerosis, and body fat, immunoreaction in laboratory animals, are being evaluated as a potential source of new drugs and new foods。
