Growth of three-wheel agrimotors at home has set an even higher demand on the development of single-cylinder diesel engines, urgently calling for a new engine generation. In this paper, the drawback of existing horizontal-type diesels is analysed, detailed discussion is made on developing a new generation of single-cylinder diesels, addressing the necessity of searching a new direction in their Structire and system arrangement and views on cooling, balancing and gears layout are suggested.
