Objective To study the correlation between CD4+ T cell count and HIV-1 viral load in HIV infectors or AIDS cases in Guizhou province, China. Methods Blood samples were collected from 74 HIV infectors or AIDS cases once per month for testing HIV-1 viral load and CD4+ T cell count. Results The CD4+ T cell count was decreased as the HIV-1 viral load increased. When the CD4+ T cell count was more than 350 pieces/μl, HIV-1 viral load over 105 IU/ml accounted for 1.27%. When the HIV-1 viral load was more than 105 IU/ml, CD4+ T cell count less than 350 pieces/μl accounted for 94.74%. Conclusion The HIV-1 viral load(Logl0) and CD4+ T cell count are negatively correlated in HIV infectors or AIDS cases in Guizhou province. Antiviral therapy is suitable for the patients with HIV-1 viral load 〉10^5 IU/ml.
