On the Moral Education Function of Village Temples from the King Qibao Temple

乡村庙宇具有道德教化功能是学界不争的事实,贺州市平桂管理区黄田镇大庙山的"七宝大王庙"可为一例。其行医郎中的身份、以灵验为基础的祭祀仪式、群策群力的节日庆典、丰富多彩的戏台演出以及官民合力的乡约标语,分别具有教人行善、造福一方,真诚守信、规范行为,同心同力、团结协作,传播道德、安家睦邻,提醒警示、淳化民风等作用。

It is academic indisputable fact that the rural temples have moral function, and the ＂King Qibao Tem- ple＂ in Damiao Mountain in Hezhou is a typical example. Its doctor identity, sacrifice ceremony, festival celebra- tions, stage performances and township slogans, all have the moral education functions as follows： persuading people to do moral things, bringing benefits to people; being sincere and trustworthy, standardizing behaviors, advocating solidarity and cooperation, spreading morality, settling down and getting along with neighbours harmo- niously, and puring folk customs and so on.
