miRNAs, contrast to siRNAs, are a class of endogenously non-coding small RNAs of 18-25 nucleotides. By specifically binding to their target mRNA sequence, they silence genes either through initiating the cleavage or inhibiting gene translation to play regulatory roles. Bai has assumed that a lot of miRNAs are located in peripheral nervous system, and peripheral inflamatory stimulation could induce great changes of some miRNAs.These results indicate that small molecular RNA plays an important role in the pathophysiology of pain. Therefore, to study the regulatoU role of miRNAs in pain has important implications for the development and application of analgesic drugs.
