A survey ofaquaticenvironmentand socio- economic developmentin the Taihu Basin is presented by the authors.They point out the impact of socio- economic development upon aquatic environment and inquire into the potential influence that a degraded aquatic environment may exert on regional sustainable development.Through relationship analysis,the authors suggests as a conclusion thatregional integration will be the suitable means leading the way to sustainable development in the Taihu Basin.
