民主党派干部是维系民主党派生存发展、薪火相传的骨干力量。改革开放初期,民主党派干部严重的老龄化影响多党合作的正常开展。十一届三中全会以来,在中国共产党的支持和帮助下,民主党派干部年轻化成效显著,并逐渐走上了科学化、制度化和规范化的轨道。
