调适自我与他者的关系,始终是近现代中国史学研究时刻需要面对的一个重要而棘手的问题。在列强入侵、西学东渐的特殊情势下,近现代中国史学研究曾陷入全面拥抱西方与简单排斥西方的窘境;而今在"全球化"视野下立足自我历史文化传统,对中国史学进行"在地化"的研究,将开放的心胸与自觉的文化意识结合起来,当为中国史学研究的合理进路。

Adjusting for the reciprocal relationship between the self and the other has been an important and diffieuh problem for modem Chinese history science. With the invasion by Western powers and Western learning＇s progressively extending to the East, modem Chinese history science was thrown into a dilemma： fully westernized or totally repudiate it. It is a reasonable approach of Chinese history science to be based on Chinese historical and cultural traditions, to adapt Chinese history science to localization and to combine open-mind with self-conscious cultural awareness against the background of globalization.
