明清时期雷州地区士民义举述论

On Charity Action of Gentry and People of Leizhou Region in Ming and Qing Dynasties

明清时期,雷州士民的义举表现在资助族人度过难关、对身陷困境的乡邻施以援手、让利施惠于人、为人申冤化解邻里矛盾纠纷、灾后义赈、捐资兴教助学、为民请命除害等方面。明清时期雷州地区经济的发展、儒学教育的深入普及、雷州地方官及本地义士义举的示范影响、官府对义举的表彰及民间对义士的推崇等,都推动了义举风习的形成。明清时期雷州地区士民的义举对地方社会民生有着积极意义。

During Ming and Qing Dynasties,the charity act of Leizhou gentry and people was about to aid people tiding over the difficulties, to resolve contradictions and disputes for people, to relieve neighbor- hood at post--disaster,to contribute money for education ,and to plead for the unfortunate people,etc.. While trend of charity act in Leizhou region in these two dynasties is formed with the development of econ- omy in the Leizhou region,the spreading of Confucianist education, the influence of the charity act by the Leizhou officials and local gentry and people,the praise and reward of the charity act from the government and the worship of the charity act by the non--governmental groups. Charity act plays an important role to common people＇s livelihood in Leizhou.
