Integration of Virtual Reality with GIS

分析了现有地理信息系统(GIS)与虚拟现实(VR)技术集成方法,将其分为黑盒集成和白盒集成2种模式。提出了通过改变操作系统软硬件行为方式,实现GIS与VR技术集成的灰盒模式。基于该集成模式,在不对现有GIS系统进行任何修改的前提下,探讨了基于帧缓存的双目立体显示方法和基于消息映射的多模式交互设备集成方法,实现了各类GIS软件与虚拟现实设备的集成。为构建集空间分析操作与虚拟现实表达、交互一体的VRGIS系统提供了理论与方法支撑。

By analyzing the existing Geographic Information System （GIS） and Virtual Reality （VR） technology in- tegration methods, which can be divided into two integration model of black-box and white-box, a new integration gray-box model by changing the behavior of the operating system software and hardware is proposed. Based on this integration model, without any modification to the existing GIS system, binocular stereo display method based on frame buffer and multi-mode interaction integration method based on message mapping were discussed, the integra- tion of GIS software and VR equipment was realized. The proposed integration method provides the theories and methods in support of constructing VRGIS system, combining spatial analysis operators, VR visualization and VR interaction.
