Objective To summarize the application and research of the Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy （FTIR） in biotechnology fields. Methods The typical cases on the application of FTIR in the biotechnology fields and the technological and theoretical bases were analyzed and summarized based on researches in biotechnology fields with FTIR. Results and Conclusion The rationale analysis and practical cases show that FTIR has been widely applied in biotechnology fields, and with the improvement of relevant theories, the technology of FTIR has a wider and further application prospect.
