一种四合一组合式电源控制器芯片的设计与实现

摘要 本文设计和实现了一种用在计算机主板上的新型四合一组合式电源控制器芯片,它集成了一组可编程的同步整流式降压型开关电源控制器、一组普通的降压型开关电源控制器、一组线性电源控制器和一组带片上导通器件的线性电源调整器,从而减小了主板面积和降低了成本。采用1.7(m BiCMOS工艺成功流水制作出该芯片,并以它为核心建立了一个适用于Pentium III系列计算机主板的四合一组合式电源系统。测试结果表明该电源系统各项性能指标完全符合Intel公司为Pentium III系列主板的电源系统制定的VRM8.4标准。 A novel hybrid 4-in-1 power controller chip for PC mainboard is designed and implemented, which integrates a programmable synchronous buck switching controller, a standard buck switching controller, a linear controller and a linear regulator with a on-chip MOS switch, so the area and cost of mainboard can be reduced. This chip is successfully fabricated with 1.7(m BiCMOS process, and a hybrid 4-in-1 power system for Pentium III serial mainboard is established. Test results show that its performance meets the specifications of Intel's VRM8.4 design guidelines for the power system of Pentium III serial mainboard.
