The paper presents the necessity of remedy of cavitations behind the liners of tunnels and the methods to detect the defects. The paper also presents analyses on the causes of cavitations and methods to remedy the cavitations. Concrete measures are proposed for remedying the cavitations from the viewpoints of construction and management in the light of engineering expe- rience, which may offer guidance for reducing cavitations in the secondary lining of tunnels during the construction of tunnels.
