师范类与外语类院校英语专业学生转折连词使用差异——一项基于CEM的研究

On the difference in the use of adversative conjunctions in the writings of English majors from normal universities and foreign studies universities: A CEM-based research

本研究基于英语专业学习者语料库(CEM)中的英语专业八级考试作文子库,考察师范类与外语类院校英语专业学生作文中的转折连词使用情况。研究结果显示,英语作文中的转折连词使用普遍集中于少数几个常用连词,连词搭配变化较少;两类院校英语专业学生在高频转折连词的使用上呈现差异,外语类院校学生的使用频率明显高于整体水平,错误率明显低于整体水平,师范类院校学生的使用频率与错误率均接近整体水平;两类院校学生在转折连词使用多样性上优于整体水平,高低分段作文的转折连词使用无明显差异,但男女学生的转折连词使用呈现差异。

Based on the Corpus for English Majors （CEM）, this research probes into the use of adversative conjunc- tions in the writings of English majors from normal universities （NU） and foreign studies universities （FSU）. It reveals that a small number of adversative conjunctions show high frequency in the writings of NU and FSU English majors, with little change in collocation. And there is difference in the use of high frequency adversative conjunctions among the English majors. FSU English majors＇ frequency of adversative conjunction use is obviously above the aver- age, while NU English majors＇ frequency is close to the average. FSU English majors make fewer errors than NU Eng- lish majors in using adversative conjunctions, but they all achieve richer diversity than the average university students. Their use of adversative conjunctions shows difference in terms of sex, but not in terms of writing score.
