“枯槁之士宿名”辩

The debate on “Ku Gao Zhi Shi Su Ming”

在《庄子·杂篇·徐无鬼》中有一句很有意思的话,即"枯槁之士宿名",这句话在初读时很容易被略过,但细细想来,此句之意又颇值得玩味。在历代《庄子》注本中,对这一句话的解释并不很完备,而尤其对"枯槁之士"四字竟无详细注解。而在陈鼓应先生的《庄子今注今译》中却直接解释成了"山林隐士留意声名"[1],这样一来,本来作为一对相悖概念的隐士和声名就发生了关系,让人摸不着头脑。在通过对《庄子》书中涉及的"枯槁""隐士"和"名声"这三个概念进行考察后,发现陈鼓应先生的这一解释并不恰当,并且在文章最后给出了一个旁证,进而确定出"枯槁之士"的真正含义是可与贾谊所言的"烈士徇名"互训的。
