Tailor-made for the Dementia-affected Elderly: the Application of Sound and Light in Interactive Artistic Devices

声音和灯光是传统动态艺术形式中常见的戏剧化语言元素,声音疗法和灯光疗法也是在对失智症(也称老年痴呆症)的治疗中最常用的有效的手段。我们利用灯光和声音,与用户的行动方式相结合,设计了一个放置在老人护理中心的走廊上,专为失智症老人设计的交互艺术装置。本文利用这个案例,探讨了灯光和声音在感官和心理上为患者带来的作用。此外本文也简要介绍了交互装置中技术细节,并提供了设计的评估结果。

Sound and light are common dramatized linguistic elements in traditional dynamic art forms, and they are most frequently used as effective methods to treat dementia （Alzheimer＇s disease）. We＇ve made use of light and sound and integrated them with potential users＇ acts so as to design an interactive artistic device which was tailor-made for dementia-affected old people and was placed in the corridor of the care center for the elderly. This article will explore the sensory and psychological functions brought to the patients by light and sound from the above- mentioned case. Besides, the article will give a brief introduction to technological details in the interactive device and provide the assessment result of designing.
