Prediction effects of vimentin expression in non-small cell lung cancer metastases

摘要 目的 观察波形蛋白在非小细胞肺癌(NSCLC)患者的表达及其对肿瘤转移的预测作用.方法 使用免疫组织化学法检测164例鳞状细胞癌、108例腺癌以及其他23例其他NSCLC患者波形蛋白的表达.结果 波形蛋白在上述患者中的总检出率为49.2%,主要在肿瘤/间质表面表达,与肿瘤的分化状态密切相关.随访患者表明,>50%肿瘤细胞表达波形蛋白的患者均出现肿瘤转移.结论 波形蛋白在NSCLC患者体内有表达,它的表达与患者的肿瘤转移呈明显正相关. Objective To examine vimentin expression in non-small cell lung carcinomas (NSCLC) by using immunohistochemistry to evaluate potential correlations between vimentin expression and the metastase of the patients. Methods 295 cases of NSCLC including 164 cases of squamous cell car- cinomas ( SCC ) , 108 cases of adenocarcinomas ( AC ) and 23 cases of other NSCLC carcinomas were ex- amined by using immunohistochemistry. Results Vimentin was indeed detected in 145 cases (49. 2% ). It was principally present in cells at the tumour/stroma interface. Vimentin expression was significantly as- sociated with the differentiation status of carcinomas. The follow-up of patients further demonstrated that an extensive expression of vimentin ( 〉50% of tumour cells) was associated with the occurrence of metasta- ses. Conclusion Our data demonstrate that vimentin expression is a frequent event in NSCLC and that its expression can be associated with the occurrence of metastases positively.
