The study to synthesize methacrylic butanol ester with heteropoly acid as catalyst has been reported. The effects of catalyst, reaction time, reaction temperature and the ratio of the reactants were examined. The best experimental condition to react was determined. The catalytic vitality and repeatability of the catalyst was discussed. The synthesized product was supervised with gas chromatography and confirmed with IR and H-NMR.
