With'campus novel'as its predecessor,academic fiction,after long-term development and changes, has reached its prime in the mid-20th century in Anglo-American literary world and formed its own characteristics.It incorporates academic writers′strong self-consciousness into the writing practice,humorously or ironically poking fun at or sympathizing with the intellectuals,and criticizing the drawbacks in higher education and hoping for the healthy development of academic research.It often transcends reality while drawing realistic pictures of it,sketching out various'academic landscapes'from a unique perspective,reflecting the progress of higher education and the vicissitudes in the academia since the mid-20th century,thus becomes a particular arena for the real or fictional academics from different fields to exchange their ideas.It has its own limitations but is still full of life and likely to have a brighter future.
