广西与发达省份的经济发展差距不断扩大的现实,说明广西在全国经济社会发展中的地位正在受到挑战。鉴此,综合运用地理软件和重心演变路径模型,对广西在东、中、西部这三大区域的地区生产总值、三次产业增加值、社会消费水平和人口等经济社会发展重要指标的重心空间演变路径,进行测算和比较,探寻广西分别在三种区域划分视角下核心战略实施的必要性。研究表明:广西在区位选择上应该划入中部地区,才是目前广西核心化的最佳选择。各项经济社会重要指标改进与广西北部湾经济区开放开发齐头并进,才是广西跟上中部地区实现核心化目标的必然举措。
