中国特色大学文化应该是中国大学在长期发展高等教育中形成的、中国大学所特有的，为中国大学人共同遵循的价值标准、基本信念和行为规范等的总和。我们不能简单地把中国大学特色文化理解为中国传统文化，也不能简单理解为西方现代文化。新的形势要求中国大学保持清醒的文化自觉，树立强烈的文化忧患意识，自觉地承担起文化传承、创新和引领文化进步的使命。建设中国特色大学文化是一项开创性事业，既不能依傍复古，简单地“复兴传统”；也不能依赖西方，简单地“全盘西化”；只能依据“中国特色”的现实，以自觉的文化态度、独立的自省行为和开放的创造精神，进行实实在在的建设。

University Culture with Chinese characteristics should be unique in the long -term development of higher education, the University of China, China University, Chinese University jointly follow the standard of value, the sum of the basic beliefs and behavior norms. We can not simply understand the characteristics and culture of the Chinese University as traditional Chinese culture, or can not simply understand them as modern Western culture. The new situation requires to keep a clear cultural awareness, foster a strong cultural sense of urgency, consciously assume the cultural heritage, innovation and lead the cultural progress of the mission. We can not return to the ancients or revive traditional construction, for university culture with Chinese characteris- tics is a pioneering career; We can not depend on the West to realize Westernization. We can only rely on China＇s reality with a conscious attitude, independent behavior and creative spirit to build university culture with Chinese characteristics.
