随着中国国力的增强及经济的迅速发展，中国在国际舞台发挥了举足轻重的作用。而作为一个国家窗口形象的公示语的翻译却存在着诸多问题，这无疑会影响中国的国际形象。为了使这一问题的解决引起广泛关注，本文从公共场所公示语的特点、常出现的错误出发，尝试性地提出了公示语翻译的几项原则。

The strengthening of national power and rapid development of economy prepares China for its significant role on the international stage. As a window of a city, varied mistakes appear/become rampant in the translation of public signs, which undoubtedly brings a negative effect on the image of the city. This paper, beginning from the characteristics of public signs to the analysis of numerous mistranslations, attempts to propose several approaches for translating public signs in the hope of shedding some enlightenment to the translators.
