The novel No Words was written by ZHANG Jie, and it is a story about Chinese women overturning traditional male-chauvinism. In the novel, the two characters YE Lian-zi and WU Wei re- present two generations of Chinese women. Although they experienced great changes of the times and the society without love from their husbands and fathers, the two women finally survived and they had their own life and family. In the text of the novel, "seeking roots" has a different meaning. In the end, YE and WU found that the roots of their families are in females, which shows that Chinese women try to overturn the malelist society.
