This paper studies on the rise-and-fall of the Cultural Landscape of the West Lake in Hanzhou and its enlightenment. It discusses how the West Lake was born and how it plays an important role to make Hanzhou to be prosperous, as Su Shi said that the West Lake being the eyes of Hanzhou .It also states the construction of the cultural Landscape of the West Lake in the History and that the Ten Sceneries of the West Lake came into being and their connotation of China＇ s traditional aesthetics. All the above has deep influence over China and the world. Finally, the paper expounds the enlightenment in five aspects, praises the West Lake in Hanzhou as the best example with water to make the urban cultural features, and points out that it＇ s historical experiences should be taken as our reference.
