Protecion of crops against disease,insect pests and weeds is vital in modern agriculture. Since the end of World War II ,numerous synthetic chemical Pesticides have been developed and used successfully in the control of crop disease and pests. Several decades later,wehave begun to realize the deleterious effects of chemical pesticides on the environment and recognize the need for alternative pest management technologies that are environmentally friendly and sustainable. Thisreview focuses on advaces of plant protection during the last half of the 20st century ,wiith emphasis on problems associated with technological advancement and a discussion on prospects in plant protection in the new millennium.
