Two experiments based on the standard paradigm of verbal overshadowing effect (VOE) were conducted to explore the variation of VOE along with changes on target face presentation time. The results showed that VOE was significant when the target face presentation time was 1 second, but tended to disappear when the target face presentation time was pro- longed to 5 seconds. Moreover, along with the extended target face presentation time, verbal description was found to be able to promote the subjects' identification.
