by comparing traditional Chinese and Western arts,it can be noted that they demonstrated the feature of ＂line＂ and ＂block＂ in artistic forms respectively. It also can be found in classic Chinese and Western landscape arts.This paper analyzes the ＂line＂ and ＂block＂ demonstrated in classic Chinese and Western landscape arts by comparing their space images and design elements to reveal the different philosophical thoughts and aesthetic cultures behind the morphological differences to enlighten the inheritance of traditional Chinese artistic features in the contemporary landscape design.
