千年古邑金溪县位于江西省中部的抚河中游,因历史上出产金银、有色泽如金的小溪流经而得名,南唐时设金溪场,北宋淳化五年(公元 994 年)建县,远在唐朝就是江南的冶银重镇;两宋时期是江西陶瓷业重要产地,"先有小陂窑,后有景德镇";明清之际,雕版印书业极盛一时,"籍著中华"300 余年。自古人杰地灵,金溪建县以来共出过2名状元、3名榜眼、242名进士,与程朱理学并重的南宋"心学"创始人陆九渊、元代领修宋辽金三史的危素、明代"医林状元"龚延贤和官至礼部户部尚书的蔡国用、清代著名学者蔡上翔、周工亮生长在这里,北宋著名政治家散文家王安石是金溪的外甥和女婿。因属历史渊源久远深厚的"临川文化"地域,且自古群山阻隔、民风淳厚、宗族血缘观念和文化传承意识厚重,众多规划匠心独运、建筑气势恢宏、环境融贴自然的古村落仍保存完整,有 560 多处古建筑被挂牌保护,在山水田园间遗韵无穷。

In Jiang Xi province, there is a county called Jin Xi. This is a very old place where produces a lot of gold and silver. The beautiful environment not only produces abundant raw materials, but also produces many outstanding people. Those people pass their villages generation by generation and protect them. As a result, the villages in this county are all well protected and have a great originality. There is Hu Wan Books Street, which is a street that famous for making wood printed books in Ming and Qing dynasty. There is Zhu Qiao village, which initiated in Yuan dynasty. The planning of this village is very ingenious and the architects in there are very delicate. Pu Tang and Dong Yuan village are the 'village of literati and soldiers.' Maybe because of the people in the Dong Yuan village are mostly the descendants of Mencius; therefore they have the great passion of learning. Both of the villages have a very long history so the buildings and the ancient carvings are all very exquisite beyond compare. Pass through a narrow lane, there is Wan Shi Tang village. This village has thousands years of history. The houses in the village are like the old castles. The castles are arranging in orders, also the amazing carvings and Chinese ink wall paintings are almost everywhere. Even though this village is very old, it is not stagnant at all. Actually, inside the village, you can still see a lot of children playing around and village people working together. This makes people looking forward to a village life even more.
