殖民主义与中国近代建筑史研究的新范式

Colonialism and A New Research Paradigm of Modern Chinese Architectural History

阐释"殖民主义"的内涵,从学术史角度考察国外殖民地城市和建筑研究的对象、内容和方法,论述我国3种不同的殖民地城市建设类型:早期以英、法为代表的租界,较后的以德、俄为代表的租借地,以及日本在伪满洲国的建设。提出建立比较殖民主义的研究框架,对我国近代时期各种殖民主义的起源和发展及其对近代城市建设的影响,进行长时段和总体性研究,形成一种中国近代建筑史研究的新范式。

The development of modern Chinese architecture is closely intertwined with colonialism. However, no comprehensive work on this topic has ever emerged. This paper ~rst elucidates on the meaning of the word ＂colonialism,＂ and reviews the current scho（arship on colonial cities and architecture in historiography. There are three types of colonial urban construction in modern China： foreign concessions mainly shaped by the British and French colonialism, leased territory exemplified by German and Russian colonialism, and the cities in Manchukuo under Japanese colonial rule. A new research paradigm that examines the origin and change of colonial policies of different foreign powers in China can be found for modern Chinese architectural history, characterized by its holistic and diachronic approach.
