清末“甘肃新疆省”省名辨析

The Analysis of the Name "Gansu-Xinjiang Province" in Late Qing Dynasty

由于甘肃、新疆历史上的密切关系及刘锦棠的建省理念,光绪十年(1884年)新疆建省时即以甘肃、新疆并称,将其命名为"甘肃新疆省"。"甘肃新疆省"省名包括了今天的两个省(区),这给人们带来了认识上的困难与混淆。"甘肃新疆省"其实就是在行政、地域辖属上与甘肃省并立的新疆省。建省以来",甘肃新疆"常被简称为"新疆"。清帝逊位后"甘肃新疆省"省名不再使用。

Because of the intimate connection between Gansu and Xinjiang and Liu Jintang＇s idea of setting up Xinjiang Province, Qing dynasty named the new province as ＂Gansu-Xinjiang Province＂ in 1884, used the name of both Gansu and Xinjiang. The new province name contained hodiernal two provinces, this brought people some cognitional difficulty and confusion. In fact, ＂Gansu-Xinjiang Province＂ just was Xinjiang Province which existed simultaneously with Gansu Province whether in administration or region. From it appeared, ＂Gansu-Xinjiang Province＂ was usually abbreviated in ＂Xinjiang＂. After the last emperor of Qing dynasty abdicated, the name of ＂Gansu-Xinjiang Province＂ was not used any more.
