The Symbol of Depression is Kuriyagawa Hakuson＇s last work,and one of his most important represen tative works.Once appearance,the book attracted the attention of Lu Xun.Owing to Lu Xun and some others＇ translation,Kuriyagawa Hakuson and his works＇ fame grew in the field of Chinese literature.Kuriyagawa Haku son＇s literature view accorded with Lu Xun＇s literary thought,so his works influenced Lu Xun＇s literary creation.So far the comparative study of Kuriyagawa Hakuson and Lu Xun is still in the initial stage,and the source of Kuriyagawa Hakuson＇s academic thinking has not yet been thoroughly explored.His dominant source of literary thought is from Freudianism and psychoanalysis,but his recessice source is from Marxism.The labor theory of Marxism is an important reference for Kuriyagawa Hakuson to reform Japanese nation.The Symbol of Depression is one of the important symbols of surpassing psychoanalysis.
