Cytomegalovirus: A Probable Cause of Steroid-refractory Ulcerative Colitis

巨细胞病毒(CMV)是一种机会病原体,是多种自身免疫性疾病的触发因素。接受激素治疗的溃疡性结肠炎(UC)患者易发生CMV感染。CMV存在时,炎症将更为复杂。感染CMV的活动期UC患者常对激素治疗无应答,给予抗病毒药物则可诱导缓解。根据既往临床证据,CMV是激素难治性UC的一个可能病因。

Cytomegalovirus （ CMV ） , regarded as a trigger of several autoimmune diseases, is an opportunistic pathogen. Patients with ulcerative colitis （UC） undergoing steroid treatment are susceptible to this infection. In the presence of CMV, inflammation becomes more complex. Patients with active UC who are infected with CMV are usually non-responders to steroid, while antiviral drugs could induce remission. CMV should be suggested as a probable cause of steroid-refractory UC based on the clinical data in the literatures.
