象山地名生僻字字义源考

A Research on Origins of Senses of Rare Chinese Characters Used in Naming Places of Xiangshan

象山"三面环海,一线穿陆"的独特地理特征,使得其许多地名用字也独具特色,不常用的生僻字相当多。选取3 500个常用字以外的29个见用于象山地名中的生僻字加以分析。透过地名用字,可以间接了解相关地域历史的或现实的地理景物的形态特征、当地居民的生活习惯、文化特点,有利于对相应区域整体地理、习俗、文化等状况的研究。

The uni and connected to que geographical features of Xiangshan County-surrounded by east China Sea on three sides the mainland on the fourth, resulted in the unique features in the choice of Chinese characters for naming many places within its territory： the use of rare Chinese characters are not uncommon. In the present paper, 29 rare Chinese characters not within the scope of 3 500 common Chinese characters but used for naming places in Xiangshan are analyzed. Through the analysis, an insight on the local historical and geographical featurs can be gained indirectly and the analysis can facilitate the research on the geography, custom and culture of the corresponding local places.
