摘要
结合人脑语言神经机制研究的重要成果,分析我国英语听说教学滞后的主要弊端:在语言神经机制成熟后学习英语,大脑在处理新的语言材料时缺乏灵活扩展能力;错过右脑开发时限,影响地道英语语音的形成;言语肌灵活度相对减弱,影响精细的言语活动;学习者容易借助母语表达,不利于英语思维。倡导英语教学要遵循大脑语言神经机制发育特点,重视早期英语听说教学:在学龄前阶段,尝试同序输入汉语和英语;中小学阶段,重视英语听说测试的监督作用;大学阶段,努力创建母语化英语学习社区,给学生提供更多的实践机会。
Negative effects of delaying English listening and speaking teaching to non-native speakers to their college years are studied in light of the important findings from investigating human brain mechanism, which includes three aspects: human brain is not so agile in dealing with new language materials when its neural system is completely mature; it is hard to pro- nounce as native speakers because of the late development of the right brain hemisphere ; it influences the accurate communi- cation due to the lack of enough flexibility of muscles in charge of speaking; learners turn to their mother tongue to think and express ideas. It is suggested in this paper that English teaching should follow the rules of brain neural mechanism develop- ment and more attention should be paid to listening and speaking teaching when learners are young. Some methods are recom- mended for both parents and teachers: try to input Chinese and English simultaneously to children in their pre-school years; give students more tests in listening and speaking in primary school and middle school; try to establish a native-like communi- ty where students can practice speaking English during their college years.
