Hilary Mantel, the British novelist, won twice the major British book prize Man Booker Prize, in 2009 and 2012 respectively, by her two novels Wolf Hall and Bring Up the Bodies. It is some surprising achievement to look at. The two novels describe Thomas Cromwell, a 16^th century statesman in the age of Tudor dynasty of Eng- land, with the economy, society, religious disputes, politics, and court struggle as background. By analyzing Bring Up the Bodies, the paper illustrates how the author of the novel characterizes her people, creates the atmosphere, and presents the ethos of the age, and more particularly, reflects human existence and predicaments.
