在《新唐书·吐蕃传》中,可见吐蕃向东扩展的战略及唐朝以遏制为主的策略,吐蕃一方面请求与唐朝建立和亲关系或者与唐朝结盟,但是另一方面又不断进攻唐朝,因此唐朝与吐蕃的关系便在战与和的关系中交错展开,在这个过程中,吐蕃的发展为吐蕃融入统一多民族中国奠定了坚实的基础,丰富了统一多民族国家发展的历史内容。

History of the Tubo Regime： A New History of the Tang Dynasty has a record of the east-expansion strategies of the Tubo regime and the containment strategies of the Tang dynasty. On the one hand, the Tubo regime urged the establishment of marriage-based relations or alliances; on the other hand, it constantly attacked the Tang dynasty. Thus, the relations between the Tang dy- nasty and the Tubo regime found expression wars and peace alternatively. In this process, the devel- opment of the Tubo regime helped lay a solid foundation for the Tubo＇s merge into China in the process of constructing a multi-ethnic and unified country.
