任何翻译作品都可能产生误译,究其根底是"误读"问题,但文学翻译中的"误读"却具有及其复杂的特点。大多数对《西游记》译本的研究都集中在佛教道教等大文化差异的对比研究上,很少有文章对年龄的翻译进行分析过。通过翻译中的归化异化理论来探讨西游记詹纳尔英译本中年龄的处理,并提出一定的见解。

Translation is not only a kind of linguistic activity but also a kind of cultural interaction, and thus cultural differences exert great influence on translation. As one of the Chinese classical mythology, Journey to the West reflects Chinese traditions, religion beliefs and also the social institution culture. Age counting is one of those culture-specific. This essay tries to see how Jenner solves the culture differences of this aspect, on the basis of the two translation theories of foreignization and domestication.
