Scholars treat The White Dog and Rope Swing as rare works in the history of contemporary literature, largely due to its unique narrative art. It overturns the traditional model framework which gives priority to the plot by intentionally leaving blanks in the construction of the environment, the portrayal of characters and the plot arrangement. By doing so, its infinite significance is silently transmitted, bringing readers a reading experience of reading less, but thinking more.
