宁波民信局产生时间较早,其业务在五口通商之前就已延伸至内地,五口通商后迅速覆盖全国。宁波民信局的经营模式相比其他信局更加完善,其经营范围之广、信局数目之多也异于其他信局。随后,宁波信局因自身的缺陷及邮政的压制而逐渐衰落,虽然采取了联合请愿、走私等方式进行抵抗以求生存,但均以失败告终。宁波民信局虽于1935年被罢废,但其服务理念及为求存而采取的联合请愿等方式于今仍有启示意义。

Because of the Ningbo civil post office＇ s own defects and exclusion and suppres-sion from the postal authorities, the civil post office gradually began to decline. Although taking petition with oth-er post offices of China, smuggling by means of resistance, Ningbo civil post office still failed in 1935. However, the service concept and the way of comping up with a joint petition to solve problems still have important practical significance today.
