沙漠是陆地生态系统最脆弱的一环 ,我国是沙漠化危害最严重的国家之一 ,尤其西部更为甚之。但沙漠并非不毛之地 ,只要利用它具有特殊的条件和优势 ,抓住西部大开发的机遇 ,大力开发潜力巨大的沙漠农业 ,其前景非常广阔。

The desert is the most fragile eco-system on land, and China is one of the countries facing a crisis as land is consumed by desertification, particularly in the west. However, the desert is not irreconcilable with agriculture, it only needs for its special conditions and advantages to be used properly, and an opportunity is provided for the great development of the western regions. There is a huge potential in developing desert agriculture, with wide ranging prospects.
