In the Social Democratic Party, Plekhanov systematically expounded the ＂neutrality of labour union＂ theory, which, based on the different nature and different division of political parties and labour unions, was a wrong expression on the relationship between the Democratic Party and labour unions in the period of the Second International, leading to the Proletarian Party＇s giving up of the leadership of labour union. Plekhanov＇ s ＂neutrality of labour union＂ theory has been severely criticized by Luxembourg. Luxembourg revealed its wrong theoretical root and serious practical consequences. Nevertheless, his incomplete theory made Luxembourg powerless to reverse the trend of the gradual weakening of the Social Democratic Party＇s initiative and the gradual declining of the working class movement in the middle and later periods of the Second International.
