This paper describes the secondary development of the software ANSYS.Mesh regeneration for 3 D simulation analysis of plastic forming of metals with great deformation and related functions are realized in the ANSYS. The secondarily developed software has been used to make a 3 D simulation of the die forge forming of forged wedges used for heavy duty draft gears in freight wagons, thus the theoretical evidence has been provided for working out a die forging process and selecting equipment needed.
