This paper intends to explore the other side of Machiavelli: as a poet. Traditional explanation overemphasizes the realistic characteristic on Machiavelli regardless of his poetic world, which, as far as I'm concerned, has exaggerated the different side to the extent of opposition. In fact, for Machiavelli, there exists no incompatible contradiction between realistic and poetic, serious and lascivious, grave and fickle. It's we readers who employ our reason to separate them abruptly. In Machiavelli's poetry, his mode of thinking by uniting realistic concern with imaginative art will manifest itself perfectly.
