The Forging of Academic Library in the Modern Sense:Collection Development of the Gttingen University Library during the Presidency of Heyne as an Example

C·G·海涅是德国近代古典语学者,曾任格延根大学图书馆馆长近半个世纪。海涅主政时期,格廷根大学图书馆的馆藏建设方针具有研究性、系统性和选择性的特征。在这一馆藏建设实践原则的指导下,海涅将该馆打造成世界上第一个现代意义上的学术图书馆。

Christian Gottlob Heyne was a German classical scholar as well as a director of the Gottingen University Library for near half a century. During the presidency of Heyne, the policy of Gottingen University Library＇s collection development characterized academic, systematicness and selectivity. Under the guidance of this practical principle, Heyne forged the library as the first model of academic library in the modern sense.
