Chinese Academic Digests in the Digital Age: Review and Reflection

向学术界乃至社会各界推介有价值的学术信息是学术文摘类期刊的生存之本,在实践中,由此还衍生出了学术评价功能。然而,随着信息时代的到来,学术文摘信息抓取、推优荐优的传统功能是否遭遇了挑战?学术文摘如何在迅速传播优秀学术成果方面继续发挥不可替代的作用?这是值得深入探讨的问题。《新华文摘》、《中国社会科学文摘》和《高等学校文科学术文摘》无疑是人文社会科学领域影响最大的文摘期刊,根据"三大文摘"近年数据特征,从文献摘编广度、学术影响深度和社会传播速率三个方面可以勾勒出其生存环境和发展现状的大致轮廓。基于此,可以发现,信息时代学术文摘能否健康发展,将取决于其能否顺应学术民主化、传播数字化和国际化的趋势,以及能否充分发挥学术共同体的作用。

The significance of the academic digest lies in its ability of assisting researchers to select useful information from numerous sources. Also,the academic digest plays an important role in evaluating and recommending high-impact works. In reality,however,whether the existing academic digests can fulfill the above-mentioned functions remains a question. Making use of the statistics from the Chinese Social Science Citation Index( CSSCI),this paper analyzes the features of Xinhua Digest,Chinese Social Science Digest and Chinese University Academic Digest from such dimensions as coverage,depth,and impact. In addition,suggestions have been made on how to promote the development of academic digests in the digital age so that they can better serve as a bridge connecting academia as well as a platform spreading scholarship.
