The Responsibilities and Consciences of Scientists:From the Perspective of “Golden Rice” Event

"黄金大米"试验中相关科技工作者为了获取科研上或者经济上的利益,利用儿童做人体试验而忽视了试验可能给儿童带来的风险,这反映了部分科技工作者责任心与良心的缺失。科学家是掌握专门知识的群体,是社会的精英,必须承担起对人、社会和科学发展的责任。任何以人为对象的试验必须遵守人体试验规范,切实尊重和保护受试者的权益,而"黄金大米"试验违反了人体试验规范,损害了受试者的权益。保护受试者的权益离不开科学家的良心,而科学家必须把科学道德转化为良心。

The fact that some scientific and technical workers ignored the risk may bought to the children in order to get scientific or economic interests in ＂golden rice＂ experiment which reflects the lack of responsibility and conscience. Scientists who are the elites of the society and have specialized knowledge must undertake the responsibility to people, society and scientific development. Any human trials must comply with the human trials specification and be respectful to the subjects and protect their rights and interests, but ＂golden rice＂ experiment is an opposite one. It is useless without the conscience of scientists to protect the rights and interests of the subjects; therefore, the scientists must take ethics of science into conscience.
