Honesty and Faithfulness Standard in Literary Translation

本文通过对诚信进行现代转换,提出了文学翻译的"诚信"说。诚指诚于人,表现为主体间性,信指信于文,表现为文本间性和文化间性,诚于内则必信于外。对话是诚信翻译的手段,和谐则是诚信翻译的目的。诚信不仅可视为文学翻译的标准,亦可视为文学翻译批评的标准。翻译之道在于和,文学翻译(批评)中诚信观的提出便是为了促进和谐翻译与和谐批评,把间性内涵落到实处。

This paper proposes a standard of honesty and faithfulness for literary translation. Honesty means sincerity of people, represented by intersubjectivity and faithfulness means true to text and culture, represented by intertextuality and intereulturality. Honesty is the inner quality while faithfulness is its outer expression. Dialogue is the means to achieve honest and faithful translation and harmony is the purpose. Translation aims at harmony and the proposed standard serves just to promote harmonized translation and translation criticism by making best use of intemess.
