从文学翻译变通的角度看葛浩文《红高粱家族》的英译

翻译是一种跨文化交流活动,同时也是一种"忠实"的"背叛"。本文深层次的剖析了葛浩文对莫言作品《红高粱家族》的英译,发现葛浩文的译作脱离了呆板的硬译死译,逾越了翻译的桎梏与障碍,以忠实为第一准则,在不同情境下灵活变通,运用不同的翻译方法,既传达了原文的"形"与"神",又非常易于目标语读者的理解,是"忠实"与"背叛"的完美结合。这种变通的翻译方法为人们重新认识翻译中不完全的忠实现象提供了全新的较科学的解释。

Translation is a cross-cultural communication activity and also a kind of ＂betrayal＂ of the ＂loyalty＂. This thesis conducts an in-depth analysis of Howard Goldblatt＇ s translation of Mo Yan＇ s works. It is found that Howard Goldblatt ＇ s rendering is no longer rigid and mechanical translation and free from the traditional shackles and obstacles. He takes＂loyalty＂ as the rendering is no longer rule, but he is flexible under different situations, applying different methods of translation. And consequently his translation conveys the original ＂form＂ and ＂spirit＂, and is easy to target language readers＇ understanding. That is the perfect combination of ＂loyalty＂and ＂betrayal＂. It provides a new scientific explanation for people to understand non- complete loyal phenomenon in translation.
