A hisrtric urban area carries a city＇s memories, which involves not only the visible construction but the invisible cultural spirit of the place. It makes a crucial factor for conversing historic areas. How to con- serve and develop the spirit of a place is of profound significance and conveys the space trait in the evolution of history. In the perspective of site spirit theory, the article here analyzes the factors influencing site spirit and re-examines the way of the conservation and development of the old town of Lhasa city.
