摘要
英语习语是英语语言文学的瑰宝,是英语民族智慧的结晶,是英语在发展过程中逐渐形成的一种特殊的表现形式。它与英语单词一样,被用作表达说话人意图的工具。英语习语不仅言简意赅、种类繁多,而且内容包罗万象、语言生动活泼、表达方式简洁明快,具有浓厚的修辞色彩。本文对英语习语的特点及常用的修辞方法进行简要的介绍和分析。
English idioms are the treasures of English language, the wisdom of the English nation, the special form in the English devel- opment process, which are often used to express the intentions of the speakers. Their contents are not only succinct and abundant, and their expressions with many rhetorical methods are also clear and concise. In this paper, the features of English idioms and the commonly used rhetorical methods will be briefly introduced and analyzed.
